Here is the complete international bulletin.
1. China Targets India: New China-Bangladesh-Myanmar Economic Corridor Announced
China has made another big announcement targeting India. Beijing is now moving ahead with a new corridor connecting its neighboring countries Bangladesh and Myanmar.
Earlier, China built the CPEC - China Pakistan Economic Corridor with Pakistan. But it did not give much benefit. Now China has shifted focus to Bangladesh and Myanmar.
Bangladesh PM Tarique Rahman recently visited China. There, China proposed this new plan. Chinese President Xi Jinping has already given a green signal to the China-Myanmar-Bangladesh Corridor project.
Bangladesh is also very interested. Officials say this project will increase trade, help develop Bangladeshi ports, and give better access to Chinese markets.
Earlier, China had a plan for an India-Bangladesh-Myanmar corridor too. But India did not join that plan, so it was dropped. Now, leaving India out, these three countries are moving ahead with a new corridor.
Why is this important for India?
This corridor will bring China much closer to the Bay of Bengal. China can bypass the Malacca Strait. Instead of taking a long route, it can come directly to the Bay of Bengal and then to the Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea.
India has strong influence near Malacca Strait. India’s influence is also strong in the upper Bay of Bengal. But still, China will cut down its long route.
Under this plan, China will develop Bangladesh’s Mongla and Chittagong ports. Earlier, the Mongla port project was supposed to go to India. An agreement was also signed. But after the Yunus interim government came to power in Bangladesh and removed Hasina, the deal was cancelled and given to China.
Corridor Route:
According to Bangladeshi media, the new route will start from Kunming city in China’s Yunnan province. From there it will pass through Mandalay in Myanmar. Then it will split into two parts towards Yangon and Kyaukphyu. Finally, it will connect to Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh through road and rail.
China will bring huge investment for roads, railways, and port development. China will also help Bangladesh build Special Economic Zones.
Big Hurdle: Myanmar Civil War
But Myanmar can become a big obstacle. Civil war is going on in Myanmar. The military has lost control in many areas. Rebels are everywhere. The Rakhine province, where the deep-sea Kyaukphyu port is located, is controlled by the Arakan Army. The US has good relations with the Arakan Army. So until the situation improves, it will not be easy for China to build this corridor. However, China may try to pacify rebels with money and weapons.
2. India-Japan Ties: PM Modi Meets Japan PM Sanae Takaichi in Delhi
Japanese PM Sanae Takaichi is on a 3-day visit to India. She met PM Narendra Modi in Delhi.
Both leaders will discuss strengthening bilateral ties. They will review agreements between the two countries. Regional and global issues will also be discussed.
After this important meeting, several new agreements are likely to be signed. We will bring you a special report soon on why India-Japan relations are strategically important, how it benefits India and Japan, and why this visit is historic. Don’t miss it.
3. Iraq: Massive Anti-Corruption Operation, 2700 Crore Seized
A massive operation against corruption has started in Iraq. Raids were conducted on the houses of government officials and MPs. Cash and assets worth 2700 crore rupees have been seized.
New PM Ali Al-Jaidi has started taking strict action after coming to power.
In the house of Iraqi women MP Aliya Nasif, 146 crore rupees in cash and huge amounts of gold were found. Aliya was earlier Chief of Staff to former PM Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani. She and her son have been arrested. A video of bundles of notes stacked like towers in her house has gone viral.
In May, former Petroleum Minister Adnan Al-Jumaili was arrested and interrogated. After that, raids are now happening on many politicians. Some escaped before the raids. Search is on for them.
Earlier, Iraqi officials had recovered illegal money worth 1000 crore rupees. In some houses, JCB machines were used to dig and recover hundreds of crores buried under the ground.
4. Russia Starts Buying Refined Oil From India
Russia has started buying oil from India. Russia plans to buy more than 1 lakh metric tonnes of oil per month. Already 60,000 metric tonnes of oil has reached Russia. Two cargo ships carrying 70,000 metric tonnes are on the way to Russia.
Why is Russia buying from India?
Due to Ukraine attacks, Russia’s oil refineries are badly damaged. Russia is unable to refine its own crude oil. There is a shortage of refined petroleum products across Russia and prices have increased.
So Russia is planning to buy 4 lakh tonnes of refined petroleum products from other countries. India is the second largest oil refining country in the world. Russia is also a friend of India.
So Russia is getting more and more oil refined from us. This is also strengthening Rupee-Ruble trade. Because we are buying crude oil from Russia and paying in Rupees. Now Russia can use our refineries, pay us back in Rupees, and take refined products.
This will also reduce Russia’s dependence on the Dollar.
5. Russia-Ukraine War: Kyiv Hit Again, Huge Casualty Report Released
Russia has again launched a massive attack on Ukraine’s capital Kyiv. The attack was carried out with ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones. At least 8 people have died and more than 34 are injured.
Explosions were heard all night. People took shelter in metro stations out of fear, officials said.
US Think Tank Report:
In 4.5 years of war, 20 lakh soldiers from both countries have been casualties. US think tank CSIS released this report.
According to the report, Russia has suffered 14 lakh casualties - dead, injured or missing. Ukraine has lost between 5.25 lakh to 6.25 lakh soldiers.
This is 4 times more than all the soldiers America lost in all guerrilla wars after World War 2.
The report also says that in the first 6 months of this year, the casualty ratio between Russia and Ukraine has gone to 8:1. Meaning for every 1 Ukrainian soldier killed, Russia is losing 8 soldiers. This seems inflated. More clear data with evidence is needed.
The report claims this is due to Ukraine’s drone strategy.
China Secret Training for Russian Soldiers:
A report also revealed that Russian soldiers were given secret military training in China. Reuters reported that Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov approved this secret training in November last year. At least 4 top generals from both countries participated directly.
In the 3-week training, dangerous war tactics were taught. How to protect from nuclear, chemical, and biological attacks. How to fight in that time. Some of these soldiers have now gone back and joined the Ukraine war directly.
China has rejected the report and said it is neutral in the Ukraine war.
6. Pakistan: India Condemns Demolition of 100-Year-Old Gurdwara
India has condemned the demolition of a Gurdwara in Pakistan. Recently, the 100-year-old Gurdwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha building in Farooqabad, Pakistan was demolished for business purposes.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said this is very unfortunate. He said attacks on religious places of minorities in Pakistan are being done deliberately. The culprits must be punished. India has asked Pakistan to rebuild the demolished Gurdwara immediately.
The Sikh community in Pakistan has also protested against this incident.
7. Nepal Makes New Proposal to India on Border Dispute
Nepal has made a new request to India. Nepal Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal said the border dispute should be resolved based on old maps and agreements.
He said they want to resolve the issue while maintaining good relations with India.
Recently, Nepal PM Balendra Shah had said Nepal has also encroached Indian land and they will take help from China and Britain to resolve it. India strongly opposed this and said no third country should interfere.
Now the Nepal Foreign Minister has said let’s resolve it based on old agreements between both countries only.
8. US Military Helicopter Crash in Arabian Sea
A US military helicopter made an emergency landing in the Arabian Sea on Wednesday. One soldier is missing and 3 are injured. The US said this was not due to enemy attack.
The helicopter was supposed to be on the USS George H.W. Bush warship. The US Navy is conducting a search for the missing soldier. Investigation is also underway.
9. US-Iran Indirect Talks in Doha
Indirect talks between the US and Iran have concluded in Doha, Qatar. US and Iran leaders sat in separate rooms and discussed. Qatar and Pakistan acted as mediators.
They discussed implementation of the Islamabad agreement signed last month. Mainly the Hormuz Strait and release of frozen Iranian money was discussed. The nuclear program was reportedly not discussed.
Qatar said the talks went well. Trump also said the talks were very good.
As a result, oil prices have dropped further. Brent crude is around 70 dollars per barrel. It has almost reached pre-war prices.
10. Trump Flies New Air Force One Gifted by Qatar
